2019 UMFA Honors Flute Choir

The Upper Midwest Flute Association is looking for the best and brightest flutists to participate in the 2019 Honors Flute Choir as part of the 2019 Flute Fest.

Saturday, March 23, 2019
Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis

UMFA Teachers are invited to nominate their 7th through 12th grade flute students to perform in a flute choir setting with all members of the flute family. Interested students will have the opportunity to play piccolo, alto flute, bass flute, and contrabass flute, in addition to their concert flutes. Low Flutes will be available for student use at the Honors Flute Choir Rehearsal which will begin with an instruction session for Low Flutes. The 2019 Honors Flute Choir will be led by Dr. Jeiran Hasan and be part of the UMFA’s 40th anniversary Flute Fest celebration. Music will be divided up among all Honors Flute Choir members so that everyone can play different parts. Teachers will receive their student's part assignments in advance via email to enable Honors Flute Choir members to practice individually and with Teacher coaching. Honors Flute Choir members are expected to perform at a Concert at the end of Flute Fest after a 2-hour Rehearsal earlier that same day. No audition is required, but nominated students should be at an advanced playing level.
