My Teaching Bio
Jenny Slivinski is a passionate music educator and multi-instrumentalist that believes in developing a well-rounded musician. Through the development of solid fundamentals, she aims to develop the full artist from the inside out. She strives to nurture individual creativity and expression with the understanding that each student has his or her own voice and unique purpose with the instrument. She is also a strong advocate of complete body awareness: how the entire body aids in the process of creating the ideal sound and how best to use the body in order to avoid pain and unnecessary tensions. Using these ideas, she actively collaborates with each student to form a plan that will nurture their love and enjoyment of music, while meeting their individual performance goals.
Jenny is currently a member of the faculty at Sarah Jane's Music School, The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music, K&S Conservatory of Music, and MacPhail. She also maintains a home studio.
She studied Music and Business Administration at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Available for private lessons, masterclasses, and sectional work, as well as performances on Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, and Saxophone.
She is a professional theatre musician and a proud member of AFM local 30-73.
Jenny regularly performs with the Westwind Concert Band and The Silverwinds Flute Choir.
UMFA member since 1996 and former executive board member and an active member of NAfME (The National Association for Music Education).
