This is a free sponsored series of informal member recitals.
The Neighborhood Concert Series provides a friendly and relaxed setting for performers and audience alike. Musicians find this to be the perfect venue to try out a new piece, have a dry run before a recital or competition, or simply enjoy the music and company of fellow flutists.
UMFA members of all ages and abilities are welcome to perform, and family and friends are invited to join in the audience. A livestream of the event may be available for performers who wish to have their performances broadcast on the UMFA facebook page.
This backyard concert will feature solo flute works and chamber groups. No piano will be provided. An active UMFA membership is required for at least one member of each performing group.
This is a great setting for introducing new people to UMFA, so you are encouraged to collaborate with your favorite duet partner or chamber group, even if they are not flutists or current UMFA members.
The allotted performance time is 8 minutes for individuals and 10 minutes for ensembles. UMFA encourages the performance of music representative of BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, and other marginalized populations.
The event will conclude with a brief flute choir reading session and social time.
To facilitate social distancing, this event will be held entirely outdoors. You may access the backyard either from the side via Violet Lane or from steps around the east side of the house.
Participants should bring their own blanket or chair for seating, and are welcome to enjoy their own snacks or beverages during the performances if they wish.
The deadline to register as a performer is Tuesday, September 14. An active UMFA membership is required for at least one member of each performing group. If you wish to attend as an audience member or participate in the reading session, please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rain date Sunday, September 26, 2:00–3:00 P.M.
