About the upper midwest flute association

The Upper Midwest Flute Association ("UMFA") is a nonprofit organization founded in the Twin Cities in 1979 with the goal of being the premier local organization dedicated solely to the art of flute playing. We welcome flutists of all ages, levels and skills from the Upper Midwest. UMFA is committed to advocating for diversity in all forms and celebrating the long history of the flute and flute playing in all its forms. Read an account of UMFA's founding and early years here.
