Ready to make music and make a difference? The Upper Midwest Flute Association (UMFA) is hosting a 30 day practice-a-thon from April 20 to May 19 to support its Flute Student Scholarship Program—a program dedicated to removing financial barriers so flutists of all ages and levels can access high-quality music education. To celebrate the scholarship program's 10 successful years so far, we plan to raise at least $5,000 to increase its impact and reach. Every dollar raised helps provide opportunities such as private lessons, master classes, summer music camps, and flute pedagogy training for students who show commitment and financial need.

Flutists of every age and level can take part in this 30-day practice challenge! Dedicate yourself to daily practice (at least 15 minutes a day) while friends, family, and supporters cheer you on by making pledges—either per day of practice or as a one-time gift.

How to sign up or donate: We’re building a campaign page on RallyUp.com, and it will be live within a few days (last update 4/10/26).  Participants will create their own profile pages so that family/friends can donate in their name.  In the meanwhile, you can also donate to the scholarship fund on the UMFA website, and you may name an individual practice-a-thon participant in the comments section.

Prizes to be announced: Some local businesses and individuals are donating exciting prizes for participants.  Let us know if you'd like to contribute a prize!
