Riverside Chamber Orchestra/Young Musicians of Minnesota Orchestra Concert
When
07/27/2013
7:00 PM
Location
MacPhail Center for Music
Join the Riverside Chamber Orchestra and Young Musicians of Minnesota as they perform a free concert on Saturday, July 27th at the MacPhail Center for Music! The concert will serve as a recognition for the Locked Out Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra and also as a fundraiser for the Young Musicians of Minnesota's (YMM's) future events.
The Riverside Chamber Orchestra is a volunteer group of musicians throughout the metro area and is led by Aaron Hirsch with the purpose of exposing more people to great m
usic.
The Young Musicians of Minnesota united to form a completely student-run organization in May of 2013 in order to express solidarity with the Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra. Therefore, they have made it their mission to do everything in their power to help the Musicians make music again while receiving fair compensation for their invaluable services. The YMM's efforts include writing letters to the Board, Management, elected officials and Musicians, creating video projects, forming a youth orchestra, writing the press, organizing in support of the Musicians, and utilizing the social media to make their presence known.
Concert repertoire includes: Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Adagietto from Mahler's 5th Symphony, and Tchaikovsky's 4th Symphony.
